The certified reference materials (CRM) BAM-F011 and BAM-F013 to BAM-F023 are the first standards for the written standard IEC 62607-3-1: Nanomanufacturing - Key Control Characteristics - Part 3-1: Luminescent Nanomaterials - Quantum Efficiency for the determination of fluorescence quantum and photoluminescence yields. For the relative determination of fluorescence or photoluminescence quantum yields of transparent solutions of fluorophores, luminescent metal-ligand complexes (phosphorescence), and luminescent nanocrystals, the certified values of the fluorescence or photoluminescence quantum yields of the CRMs presented are mandatory as reference values. Furthermore, the new CRMs can be used to verify the reliability of absolute photoluminescence quantum yield measurements with optical setups such as integrating sphere measurement systems.
The certification was performed in an intralaboratory comparison involving different optical setups and commercial instruments, which were independently calibrated.
The CRMs are available as solid substances for application as photoluminescence quantum yield standards in specified solvents according to a BAM Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provided with the CRMs.
