Avoiding chemical accidents through correct test results

An explosion in a chemical plant, a fire on a freighter … there can be various causes.

Avoiding accidents starts with determining the hazardous properties of the chemicals in the laboratory. For this special purpose, standardised testing methods have been developed and are used worldwide.

Safety experts must be able to fully rely on the test results obtained. Responsible test laboratories carry out extensive quality assurance measures for this reason.

CEQAT-DGHS supports the further development of the quality assurance measures through an interlaboratory comparison programme for testing the physical hazards of chemicals and through training and organizing events.

CEQAT-DGHS established in 2007, is run by Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM), Berlin, in cooperation with the QuoData Gesellschaft für Qualitätsmanagement und Statistik mbH, Dresden, and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig.
